If there is ever an opportunity to share successful strategies for creating positive school conditions that ensure everyone feels socially, emotionally, and physically safe, chances are you’ll find a member of the Scholarship Prep team eager to participate!

Last month, Scholarship Prep’s Jessica Leahy (SP Oceanside Principal), Allison Vann (SP South Bay Principal), and Chantel Van Pool (SP Orange County Principal) presented at the 6th Annual California MTSS Professional Learning Institute, which brought together educators and leaders from various organizations to support the creation of inclusive and equitable learning environments.

Hosted by the Orange County Department of Education and the Butte County Office of Education at the Anaheim Convention Center, the two sessions covered using culturally responsive education to build positive relationships and trauma training for all staff members.

Those in attendance included classroom educators, administrators, school counselors, school psychologists, school-based mental health clinicians, district leaders, county offices of education leaders, higher education faculty, and community-based organizations to support the creation of inclusive and equitable learning environments.

MTSS is a multi-tiered system of supports crafted to support the whole child. It’s a framework many schools use to give targeted support to struggling students, identifying them early and intervening quickly.
