The Power of Community: Family Movie Night Brings Students, Families, and Staff Together

To kick off November, SP Oceanside and South Bay hosted a Family Movie Night. The event was a fantastic way to unite the community and celebrate the spirit of togetherness.

Students, families, and staff members gathered together for the event, enjoying the delicious food by family-owned businesses, such as Gaby's Tacos and Beachfront Bakery, popcorn, as well as face painting and photo booth activities. The event featured a showing of the animated movie 'Book of Life,' which was the perfect choice for the evening as families were invited to bring photos of their loved ones to remember and honor at the schools’ Dia De Los Muertos ofrendas.

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to SPOS’s ASB, Pep Squad, teachers Andrea Hernandez and Sara Hogman, Amy Tomaino (UPK Manager), and Stephanie Fauatea (School Operations Manager). Big thanks go out to the SPSB Special Education Department, led by Cynthia Vargas (Education Specialist), as well as Christian Nunez (IT Technician), Arlene Contreras (School Operations Manager), Rocio Palacio (Office Manager), Marisol Ontiveros (Dean of Mathematics), Christin Rickman (Psychologist), Efren Castillo (School Counselor), and Principal Allison Vann for planning and hosting such a successful movie night.

Overall, the event was a shining example of how Scholarship Prep continues to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all community members!
